Op. 6
Note:
SSD 1875: "Triumph-Symphonie (E major)...1853 intended for the celebration of the marriage of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. But it was not accepted by the Highest Hofmeister (if I am not mistaken Count Lanskoronsky). It was performed by me in the Konvikt concert hall in Prague once. The Scherzo from this symphony was also performed separately in a concert at Žofín. The anthem of Austria is the main motif of this symphony, and also ends it in the finale. It is therefore unsuitable except for the celebration of an imperial family. It has four movements: Allo. Largo. Scherzo and Finale." Note: Reason for composing: the marriage of Emperor Franz Joseph I to Princess Elizabeth of Bavaria. Berkovec states at the dedication: Gewidmet der Vermählung des Kaisers Franz Joseph I. mit der Prinzessin Elisabeth von Bayern. (Dedicated to the marriage of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria.)
